Current Initiatives

NCCDD is dedicated to empowering people with intellectual and other developmental disabilities (I/DD) by supporting self-advocacy, independence, and the right to self-determination. Through its new Five Year Plan, the Council promotes advocacy development, community living and financial asset development so people with I/DD have options to make choices about work, where to live, friendships, taking part in the various activities of their community and other personally defined outcomes.

The following statewide intiatives are supported by NCCDD and its collaborative partners, relating to the Council's Five Year Plan (2017-2021):

* Though inactive, the IALD initiative was integral to the Council’s investment in the Leadership Development Training Initiative and the NC Empowerment Network, an emerging statewide self-advocacy organization.
